ABOUT KNK

— Participates in the development of mandatory requirements for services, works, products as well as law drafts and other normative legal acts of the Russian Federation, governing relations in the field of consumers’ rights protection;

— Conducts independent expertise of quality, safety of services, works, products and the coherence of consumer characteristics of services, works, goods to information declared by the executives, manufacturers, retailers about their services, works, goods;

— Verifies the adherence of consumers’ rights and the rules of commercial, domestic and other kinds of services, draws up acts on violations of consumers’ rights and directs them for consideration to the competent authorities of state power as well as informs local authorities on found violations, participates at the request of consumers in the examination of the facts of violation of consumers’ rights;

— Distributes information about consumers’ rights and the necessary actions to protect those rights, on the results of comparative surveys of the quality of services, works, products as well as other information which will promote the realization of rights and legal interests of consumers;

— Appeals to federal executive authorities, organizations with propositions on measures to increase the quality of services, works, products, on suspending production and sale of goods (works, rendering of services), on recall from the internal market of services, works, goods which do not conform to the imposed on them and set by the legislation of the Russian Federation about technical regulation mandatory requirements;

— Appeals to the prosecuting authorities and federal executive authorities with materials to prosecute persons, exercising the manufacture and sale of products (rendering of services, works) not meeting the mandatory requirements imposed on them as well violating consumers’ rights, established by laws and other legal acts of the Russian Federation;

— Appeals to the prosecuting authorities with requests to bring protests to invalidate acts of federal executive authorities, acts of executive authorities of subjects of the Russian Federation and local authorities acts that contradict to the laws and other legal acts of the Russian Federation in the field of consumers’ protection;

— Appeals to the courts with claims in defense of consumers’ rights and legal interests of individual consumers (groups of consumers, indefinite number of customers);

— Examines consumers’ complaints, consults them on questions regarding the legislation of consumers’ rights protection;

— Analyzes agreements entered by executors, sellers with the consumers, in order to identify the conditions which infringe the consumers’ rights;

— Collects information about harm to life, health or property of consumers, caused by dangerous services, works, goods;

— Upon detection by the consumers of shortcomings of services, works, goods, notifies the state administration authorities, who control the safety of services, works, goods;

— Organizes seminars and conferences re consumer rights protection;

— Renders legal consultations to citizens on consumers’ rights protection;

— Promotes the development of scientific cooperation with foreign universities, research centers, scientific associations, foundations and other organizations.

— Assists in legal defense and representing the interests of persons who need protection and help from the side of public authorities in accordance with the current legislation of the Russian Federation;

— Collaborates with state, public and other organizations, citizens in implementing actions of charity, welfare and peacemaking;

— In accordance with the law carries out the organization and holding of conferences, seminars, lectures, courses and other events, with other legal and individual persons as well as individually, aimed at achieving the KNK’s goals;

— Spreads knowledge on questions concerning consumers’ protection;

— Promotes the creation and create educational and scientific (research) institutions and other organizations in accordance with the current legislation of the Russian Federation;

— Carries out the support of direct contacts and communications with international public associations;

— Aids in rendering educational, procedural, information and other help to consumers;

— Participates in competitions, in organizing and conducting training, class packages, conferences, «round» tables, seminars, presentations and other activities within the bounds of activities aimed at achieving KNK’s goals;

— Aids in the collaboration and experience exchange with Russian, foreign and international organizations, higher education institutes and private individuals;

— Participates in the organization of joint foreign projects, competitions, arranges exchange of experience;

— Promotes partnership activities aimed at achieving KNK’s goals;

— Promotes the realization of industrial, economic and commercial activity in the field of retail trade, rendering of services aimed at achieving KNK’s goals;

— Carries out publishing activity, assists in preparation and publishing of printed output, press releases, methodical recommendations, agendas, catalogues and collections aimed at achieving KNK’s goals;

— Provides help in creating innovative information technologies, software and other products via the Internet, aimed at achieving KNK’s goals;

— Carries out the hire of specialists and their involvements in other forms, creates and organizes the work of groups (temporary staff) of scientists, experts, analysts, practitioners in the field of rights and freedom protection; employs the work of volunteers (voluntary servants);

— Contributes to the implementation of funding programs, projects and other actions in accordance with the goals of KNK’s activity;

— Carries out the collaboration with Russian and foreign information agencies, departments, foundations, commercial and non-commercial organizations, aimed at achieving KNK’s goals.
